Why Conscious Movement
Conscious Movement reminds us of our wholeness. It is our journey back to full body connectivity and allows us to unwind patterns that would otherwise be overlooked. My Conscious Movement practice has changed the way I move, think and embrace life.
CM is an invitation to know your body better, from the inside out. Most of my clients are athletes. They’ve played hard and thrive on adventure. Then something happens; an injury, an accident, a muscle tweak from pushing themselves a little too far and they are left feeling disconnected from their power. Muscling through is no longer an option. A subtle re-patterning approach is their pathway back to pain free play.
Conscious Movement emerges through attention to breath. Our breath is the doorway into our soma, our lived body’s intelligence. It is here that we make a conscious choice to “be” in the doing and witness the tracking of energy and force in our body. We push into the earth and observe where our energy wants to go, taking time to sense and feel it’s pathway into spaces that we usually avoid or skip over. This is where the magic happens and re-patterning begins. We linger in these spaces, breathing and exploring gentle movements that stimulate hydration and reorganization in our tissues. We return to our daily patterns feeling refreshed and grounded.
Conscious Movement is informed by Somatic Groundwork, a somatic movement practice cultivated by my teacher Kaila June. It is an invitation to move at a healing pace and explore what is inside your movement. It is in these spaces that we find physical, mental and emotional threads that are sticky and need our attention. We revisit patterns we used to evolve from a crawl to a walk and witness the habits we adopted by mimicking our loved one’s movements, with fresh eyes. Feedback is received and we slightly shift the weight of our foot, the lift of our chest, the placement of our eyes and suddenly feel good in our body!
Conscious Movement is a supplement to your active lifestyle. Small shifts make a big difference in the way you move through life.
